Crouch House Inc. ("we," "us," or "Crouch House") is a California Nonprofit Public Benefit Corporation (Secretary of State File No. 6530440), organized exclusively under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect personal information when you visit our website or interact with us.
1. Information we collect
We collect only what we need to operate the organization and to respond to your requests. The categories below cover everything we may process.
Information you provide directly
- Donor information: name, email address, mailing address, donation amount, and payment details (processed by our payment provider — see Section 3).
- Newsletter signups: email address only.
- Contact form submissions: name, email, subject, and message body.
- Volunteer and partnership inquiries: name, email, organization, and any details you choose to share.
Information collected automatically
- Technical data: IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring URL, and pages visited.
- Usage data: aggregated, anonymized analytics about how visitors navigate the site.
2. How we use your information
- To process donations and issue tax receipts.
- To respond to inquiries, send confirmations, and provide requested information.
- To send our quarterly newsletter (only to those who opt in; you can unsubscribe at any time).
- To comply with legal obligations, including IRS reporting and California charitable-solicitation disclosures.
- To prevent fraud and secure the site.
3. Payment processing
Donations are processed through a PCI-DSS Level 1 certified payment processor. We do not see, store, or have access to your full card number, CVC, or expiration date.
4. Sharing of information
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We may share limited information in the following cases:
- Service providers who help us operate (payment processor, email delivery, hosting). They are contractually bound to confidentiality.
- Legal compliance: if required by court order, subpoena, IRS audit, or applicable California or federal regulator.
- Aggregated/anonymized statistics in our annual report or public communications. Individual donors are never identified without prior consent.
5. Cookies and tracking
We use a minimal number of cookies for site functionality and privacy-friendly analytics. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings; the site will continue to function.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict use of your personal information. To exercise these rights, email crouchhouse01@gmail.com. We respond within 30 days.
California residents (CCPA / CPRA)
California residents have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, including the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, and to correct inaccurate information. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
EU/EEA residents (GDPR)
If you reside in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation. Our legal basis for processing is either your consent (newsletter, contact forms) or our legitimate interest in operating Crouch House (donation processing, fraud prevention).
7. Children's privacy
Our website is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Data retention
We retain donation records for the period required by U.S. tax law (currently seven years). Newsletter subscriptions are retained until you unsubscribe. Contact-form submissions are retained for up to two years.
9. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information. All payment transactions are encrypted end-to-end. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be announced on the homepage for at least 30 days.
